Oh my God, Saathi, OMG. It’s also one of my favorite movies, it literally blows my mind everytime I see it, it’s beautifully filmed, Jodie kicks ass, all the ideas and concepts are amazing and it even if I know it by heart, my chest tightens everytime when she “goes”. So much love for you right now.I do not give a good goddamn what anybody else thinks; I love this movie unabashedly, without reservation or equivocation. Jodie Foster is fantastic, and her character is one of my top five sci fi heroines.
…crap, now I want to do a list. Give this #kickasswomenfolk tag a workout.
Marie, sometimes I think we were separated at birth and the delay between the dates on our birth certificates is solely due to the travel time it took for my parents to bring me home.
Welp, guess I can’t be president, lol.And yeah, I keep tearing up, like, I practically know this movie by heart, and yet…
Can I be triplets? Because I too am an atheist/humanist and to see Ellie telling the truth about her beliefs and have it come back to bite her — it gets me RIGHT HERE. But I do really like how McConaughey counters her atheist arguments because it’s respectful and isn’t about OMG GODLESS HEATHEN. Because most people think atheists eat babies or are immoral or whatever and it makes me have incoherent rage.
I love this movie unreservedly and always will. Even if it were terrible, I would love it for no other reason than that it inspired a whole generation of little girls (including some of my current classmates) to grow up to be astrophysicists. Anything that inspires more women to go into the sciences deserves all the praise it can get. But this movie is pretty much perfect in every way.
